First date revisited

Now, I know I’m supposed to play hard to get, but I got a text from Hudson today that he was in the area if I wanted to meet up. I really wasn’t doing anything else, and it was such a nice day out, so I said sure. We met for froyo and a short stroll before he had to go to an appointment in the area. I wasn’t feeling up to my normal chatty self, so I let Hudson do most of the babbling. He also showed me his super wicked bubble-blowing skills. This could be the start of something … then again, I’m way too young to get tied down.

I got a car!

We had quite the long weekend. It started on Friday when mommy’s college buddy, Matt, came to meet me. He came all the way from a place called Texas. He told me it was pretty far away. We spent the day together strolling, eating and napping. He is pretty cool.

Saturday I spent the WHOLE day with mommy, daddy, grandpa Bob and Carol car shopping. I was on my best behavior because I really wanted mommy and daddy to buy me a new car. Guess what? It worked!! Daddy is picking up my new car on Tuesday. Although it isn’t the smurf blue color that I and mommy wanted, I’ll still take it. I can’t drive it yet, but that is OK. It’s only a matter of time.

I think I figured out the trick to getting what I want. I just have to be extra good all day. I’ll have to try this theory out on some other things besides a car. Actually, now that I think about it, crying works to get me what I want too, but that is so tiring.

Since we were so busy, I didn’t have time to take many new photos. Below is one of me being a “good girly” with my hands placed neatly in my lap. Who can say no to this face?

Me and my mullet

Mommy keeps telling people I have a mullet. I wasn’t sure what a mullet is so I Googled it. (Don’t look so surprised. Of course I know how to Google something. I’m part of the highly connected Generation Z and write my own blog.) Turns out, a mullet is a hair style where hair is short in the front and long in the back. In one search, it said a mullet is “business in the front, party in the back.” I’m not sure what that means, but every time mommy says it to someone, the person laughs. It kind of hurts my feelings. Daddy defends me and says I don’t have a mullet, but he doesn’t have much hair, so I’m not sure how much of an authority he is on the subject. What do you think?

Daddy and dancing

Occasionally, when I’m sad, daddy will dance around the room with me. It always cheers me up. Sometimes we slow dance and do what he calls a waltz. Other times he does this weird thing where he lifts up his knees and bounces around in circles. Right now I don’t mind it – it actually makes me smile – but if he starts to do it in front of any of my friends I’ll be mortified!!! I begged mommy not to share any pictures of us dancing, so instead, you get a cute selfie of me.

First date and mommy’s birthday

A couple of you have been asking how my first date went. I was hoping you would have forgotten I mentioned it because I’m a little embarrassed to say the date never materialized. (Mommy taught me that big word today.) Hudson and I shared a few emails but then communication stopped. I’m not sure why. Mommy told me it isn’t me, it’s him and that boys (other than daddies) can be unreliable sometimes.

I did see Hudson again today at our weekly mommy and me class. We sat next to each other, but he played it cool, as if he didn’t ask me out and then never followed through. I did notice he was much more interested in the boy sitting on the other side of him than me. Just saying…

Today was mommy’s birthday. We spent the WHOLE day together. I tried to be on my best behavior, and I was, except for when I had a little accident and pooped my pants. After that, though, I was great. We walked around the mall, had lunch with our new mommy friends, went to class, picked daddy up from work and then went out for dinner. It was a long day, so my gift to mommy is to sleep through the whole night! Oh, how cool is this? I’m three weeks and four days old today and mommy is 34 years old today. Pretty neat! Here's a picture of us cuddling on the couch tonight. People keep saying I look just like her. What do you think?

My great grandpas, the veterans

Happy Veteran’s Day! Mommy and daddy tell me that this special day honors all veterans, like my two great grandfathers, for their willingness to serve and sacrifice for our country. My daddy’s grandfather, Lester Kenneth Herman, was a captain in the U.S. Army who served in World War II in Europe. My mommy’s grandfather, Emanuel Roth, was a sergeant in the U.S. Army and also served during World War II in Italy. Maybe they knew each other. Even though I’ll never get to meet either of them, I’m super proud of my great grandpas and honored to be named after both of them. I hope they like my fatigues. J
