How long is a timeout? |

Doing time
I got my first timeout today. Apparently, it's not OK to push all the mail off the table and laugh while you do it. At first I was sad about the timeout. I don't like spending time in my crib during the day. But then I decided to just take a nap. That made it easy time.

Monument and college touring
We spent the day today looking at monuments. Monuments are things that are built to commemorate (that means remember) a person or event. First we went to the top of the Washington Monument. It's really high up in the air and you can see the whole city from the top. Daddy was a little nervous but not me. I ran around, fell, got up and ran some more. And when I laughed it echoed, which made me laugh more. Once we got down, we strolled by the World War II Memorial then to the Lincoln Memorial. At this point I fell asleep, but mommy said we also went to the Albert Einstein Monument, which is her favorite.
When I woke up we were at mommy's college, George Washington University. I blended right in with the college kids when we eat lunch in the student cafeteria. At the GW bookstore I shopped a bunch and even got my first college T-shirt. For some reason, we spent a lot of time looking for a brick with mommy's name on it, something mommy got when she graduated. We saw lots of other bricks with people's names on them, but not mommy's. It was a very bad game of hide and seek. Mommy should really take better care of her stuff like she tells me.
Later in the day, we went back to my cousins' place. Tama made me dinner with all my favorites: tiny tomatoes, cucumbers and pasta. She made meatballs too, but I didn't like them. (Sorry Tama, but I heard daddy loved them!) Later on Max and mommy took turns telling me a bunch of bedtime stories. They were some silly stories that sure made me sleepy. I'm super sad to leave DC tomorrow. I hope we get to come back soon.

Capital adventures
Sydney got sick today so we couldn't play together anymore. It made me really sad. We left Sydney with Tama at home to get better while the rest of us went to this thing called a car show. It was in a big convention center and there were lots and lots and lots of cars. I got to sit in a bunch. My favorite was the pick-up truck. At the show they also had these things called "characters." I really, really, REALLY didn't like them. I was OK waving to them because I like to be friendly, but anytime we got close to them my whole body would start shaking and I would grab on really tight to whoever was holding me. Super scary stuff.
Later in the day, when mommy was at her conference, daddy and I walked around the national arboretum and the Capital building. I asked daddy what goes on in the Capital building and he said a lot of nothing. Seems silly to have a fancy building and nothing going on in there.

I do NOT like characters. |

DCA cousins rule
Our flight down to DC got a little delayed because of some snow, but we made it. I really liked reading about all the safety features on the plane. Oh, and I got this cool TSA sticker shaped like a badge for walking through the metal detector all by myself.
My cousins were so excited to see me. All day Max would keep trying to guess what I wanted. Sometimes he got it right. Sydney liked to play this game where she would stand far away and say, "Lexi, high five." Then I would go running as fast as I could to give Sydney the high five. It was exhausting and super fun! Tama is the first person to really get what I'm saying. We talked a lot. And Warren is really funny. He always gets me to smile. He even tried to teach me how to play soccer. I can't wait to see what we do tomorrow. My cousins are the best.

Lexi goes to Washington
I just found out we're going on a trip this weekend. We're going to Washington, DC. Mommy has a conference to go to while we are there so I'll be spending a lot of time with daddy and my cousins Warren, Tama, Sydney and Max. I can't wait!! Daddy said we are going to go to museums and maybe this place called the white house. A white house sounds pretty boring to me. A yellow house with pink stars and blue stripes would be so much better. Maybe they will let me color the house.

Pats party
We went to a Pats party tonight and rooted go Pats go! It really worked!! The Pats scored so many times that people stopped paying much attention to the game. I got to eat a bunch of chips and had fun running away from some doggies that kept coming near me. For the record, I love doggies from a distance, but up close they are a little scary. I tried to grab a beer, but mommy caught me and made me put it down. Maybe next time.

The chain gang
Today was the first day all week it didn't snow or rain, so we finally got to go outside. We couldn't play in the park because all the slides and stuff were dirty. I didn't care. I was just so excited to be part of the chain gang. In the baby room when we went out we were all strapped into these carts. In the toddler room we all walk ourselves holding on to a rope. Don't worry, they strap our hands on to the rope so we can't run away. I learned you have to be careful to not walk too fast and bump into the person in front of you or go too slow and be bumped. I was bump free until I saw a dog and got so excited that I froze in place and started making ooh sounds like a monkey. I nearly caused a three-toddler pileup on Harvard Ave.
