Swim is no win

I'm still not sure about this swimming thing. It's kind of like a giant bath, which I love, but all these other people are there and there are no toys. What's weird too, is I can't sit like I do in the tub. Nope, I just float away. Either mommy has to hold me or I have to grab on to her. It kills my independent nature.

I don't think I'm ready to go back
in the pool again.

Monkeying around

We went to the zoo today. My favorite things were the monkeys and the birds of prey show. It was so cool to see the monkeys swing from branch to branch to branch. I didn't know they could do that. I thought monkeys just jumped on beds. During the birds of prey show there was a hawk and an owl and a parrot and a few others I can't remember. They all flew over my head multiple times. Luckily none of them pooped on us. That would have been gross!

Hello Mr. Hawk. I'm not afraid of you. I'm even going
to try to take your guide stick.

On lockdown

I've been under stroller-seat-arrest a lot lately. Before when we used to go out, mommy or daddy would hold me a lot. But now that I want to touch and grab and crawl and stand on everything and anything, I've noticed that I tend to be kept buckled in a lot more. As daddy likes to say, the man is keeping me down. Guess I'll just have to figure out how to unlock this buckle myself.

Up, up and away. I'm going to fly
right on out of here.
Can you get me some longer pants? I look
ridiculous. I'm even laughing at myself!

Party hopper

It's been a party hopping type of weekend. First I went to my friend Caleb's house for a barbecue party on Saturday. We had a lot of fun playing in his bedroom (don't worry, mommy was supervising) and out on his porch. When Caleb's daddy scared me, Caleb gave me a big hug to make me feel better. He's such a sweetie. Then today, we went to my friend Lulu's house for her birthday party. I had a blast riding around in Lulu's pink car. I started giving rides to a few people including this boy Declan. He was really into me. After I gave him a ride he climbed in and sat right on top of me. Later he open mouth kissed me, right in front of daddy. How embarrassing! In addition to the parties, this long holiday weekend we went to the aquarium and I had my first swim lesson, but I'll tell you more about that next week. It's way past my bedtime.

That will be $12. 50. Who needs a ride next?
Yum, beer. I'll just take the whole case to
the party. Never good to go empty handed.
Stop taking photos. I want to see the sea
lions and the penguins already.

American party animal

Today is a special day. It's the day we celebrate American independence (that means freedom). I learned that Americans usually do that by getting together with friends and family and having barbecues, drinking lots of bottles, although contents may vary, and watching fireworks. I can't wait to see what we do. No surprise, mommy dressed me up for the holiday. She said I'm supposed to look like Uncle Sam. I Googled him and I don't think I look anything like him. I do love my headband hair!

Happy 4th of July everyone!

Sticky situation

It's been soooo hot here the last few days. I've noticed when it's this hot that my hands and legs stick to things, like the floor, or everything sticks to me, like food or grass. Today I found a Cheerio still hanging out in my elbow crease hours after I had them at lunch. To beat the heat, I've started drinking water from a sippy cup. Water doesn't really have much flavor, but I like that it's cold.

Check out my cool shades!
It's going to cool off one day soon, right?

Pull up master

I've mastered pulling myself up. I can go from my butt to feet in three seconds flat. I pull up on my play table, on the couch, on the coffee table, on my crib, even on people. Now that I can do it, I'm addicted and can't stop. I even took a few steps today while mommy held my hands. If it took me a week and a half to go from crawling to pulling up, at this pace I could be walking on my own before my 9-month birthday. How crazy would that be?!
