Incommunicado

I've been talking a lot more lately and really trying to have conversations with people, but when I do, they don't seem to make any sense. I'll say "why don't you come over here and play with my cars," and mommy says back, "Lexi, are you ready for a bath?" Um, no, mommy, I want to play with my cars. Or at school I'll say to my teachers, "I want to go downstairs," and they sing back some song that has nothing to do with going downstairs. It's so frustrating. People do understand a few things I say, like "up" and "more" and "hi" so I don't get why they don't understand everything I say. It makes me so sad that I throw myself on the ground and kick my arms and legs a lot.

Why don't you understand what I'm saying?

Flying sidewalk

I fell today and scraped up my face. One minute I was running and the next I was lying face down on the sidewalk. Now, a few hours later, I'm OK. I just hope we can put off my passport photo shoot until I heal.

This is my better side, now.
How long until my scraped nose heals?

Mr. Sandman cometh

I've been having some trouble sleeping lately. Sometimes it's just trouble falling asleep and other times it is trouble staying asleep. Sometimes I have these bad dreams that I kinda wake up from. Mommy tells me she finds me standing up in my crib crying while I'm sleeping. It's kind of weird because I never remember them. All I know is when I don't sleep mommy and daddy get pretty grumpy. Daddy starts using all these words that mommy says not to use so I don't hear them. (I do hear them though. He really likes one that starts with "sh.") I need one of those magical butterflies I see on TV that helps people sleep. Does anybody have one I can borrow?

For some reason, I now
hold my head when I sleep.

Ice adventure

My Hanukkah gift today was going to see Disney on Ice. At first I was a little scared and didn't want to let go of mommy at all. I had no idea where we were and people in costumes were moving so quickly all around us. After a little bit, I got into it. It helped having my buddy David there with me. We held hands and he shared his popcorn with me. My favorite parts of the show were when this girl danced with all her fishy friends and when a horsey and piggy came out with a bunch of other really, really big toys. It was also really fun when David and I ran around the stadium screaming and laughing when the show was over. :)

Where did all the skaters
go? Is the show over?
So mesmerized I didn't know
 my photo was being taken.
Disney on Ice crew. Always a fun
time with David and Bonnie.

Present ADD

I haven't written in days because all I can do is play with all my new toys. I just run back and forth between all of them all night long. There's this cool racetrack that these cars go down and around. There's an Elmo doll that talks to me. There's a bunch of puzzles with pieces I love tossing all over the place. There's this big doll who's a little scary but I let her sit at my table with me anyway. There's bowling pins and even a cell phone! There's just so many new things I don't know what to play with first, so I just run around playing with everything. By the time I'm done you can't see the rug anymore it is so covered in toys. Oh and I also have these cars that have little people in them and they make noise. It's all just so fun. Hanukkah is the best...and it's not over yet.

Falling latkes

Tonight was the first night of Hanukkah. It started out with a bang, literally me falling down some stairs and banging my head. Luckily, it was only a few until I reached the landing, not the really long stretch of stairs to the first floor. That's the last time I try to go down some stairs by myself. Not because it hurt so much to fall, but it was super painful hearing mommy tell me over and over I need to be a better listener when she tells me not to do something. Other than that, the first night of Hanukkah was super fun. We lit candles, danced to Hanukkah songs and opened presents. I got some puzzles, a toy car and a blanket. Oh, and I got this awesome fuzzy monster bowling set from Nana and Poppy. I'll admit I actually opened it over the weekend because I found where mommy was hiding it. It looked so fun and I was right! Even with all my presents, my favorite thing tonight wasn't for me. It was the Muppets figurines daddy got. He let me look, not play with them. He's a bad sharer. Now I know where I get that from.

I got Hanukkah balls yes I do,
I got Hanukkah balls how about you? He he he!

Still not a latka fan, but the floor liked them.

Selfie Sunday 57

Don't tell mommy I stole her phone and took some funny photos. She also doesn't know I know how to turn the knob on the gumball machine and get the gumballs out. He he he.

Check out my silly comb over.
Roar, I'm Lexi the lion!!!

Fish-tastic Friday

There is a dentist office that shares the lobby with my day care and they have this thing called a fish tank. Some days mommy and me go in and look at the fishies. There is a gray one and an orange one and a yellow one with stripes. I can watch them forever. It's so cool how they swim around and open and close their tiny mouths. Plus they can't lick me like Canela did - yuck! I especially love banging my hands against the glass to get the fishs' attention, but I can't do it too much because then mommy makes me leave. She has so many rules.

Checking out the fishies
through the glass door.

Wet and traumatized

It's taken me two days to write this post. I'm still somewhat traumatized by what happened. Sunday afternoon we went over to Mary and Victor's house. We've been there many times before, but this time was different. I walked in the door and their dog Canela was there. At first we just stared at each other. Then out of nowhere he started licking my face. I was paralyzed (that means frozen) in a combination of fear and icky-ness. Canella's tongue was wet, warm, sticky and smelly. And it was all over my face. EWWWWW!!! Mommy tells me it only lasted a few seconds but if felt a lot longer than that. It was the most gross thing ever. All I could think to do was cry.

Hanukkah dreaming

Guess what's coming up. Hanukkah. Seven glorious nights of tearing wrapping paper and playing with packaging. And then if something comes in the packaging, like things I can stick in my mouth, can you say BONUS! I can't wait, although I have to because it's still a week and a half away. We did go to a Hanukkah party today though where I got to bop to music, chase balloons, decorate a menorah and candle box and eat lots of play-doh. The latkes didn't do it for me, but the play-doh was yummy.

Be good to me Hanukkah Harry!

Left standing solo

A few of my older friends have moved up to the next classroom at daycare, so I'm left with a bunch of the younger kids. The babies are cute and all, but I miss my pals. Good thing there is a new boy my age named Charlie that recently started. He only comes once a week now, but he will be full time in January. I can't wait to have a new buddy. The one perk of being the oldest is the teachers let me do special things. Like yesterday they took me down to the basement to get more milk and then I got to climb back up the stairs. I'm getting really fast!

I love climbing up stairs. It would be so much
easier if my jacket sleeves were shorter.

Caffeine fix

It seems like everyone in the family loves coffee. They are always talking about getting their fix. Normally, I'm not allowed to have any, but when no one was looking today I snuck a sip. I don't see what the big fuss is about. It tasted yucky to me.

Sunday happenings

What a great day. It warmed up enough to go out to the park. I got to try this new slide. It's made up of rollers. I would say ahhh as I went down and it sounded really funny. I went down on my tummy, on my back, and even sideways so many times. So fun! I can't wait to go back. At the park I also practiced walking down stairs. Yup, you read that right, walking. As long as I hold on to a railing or someone's hand I can do it. Oh, and I discovered cream cheese today. At first I just kept putting my spoon in the little cup and licking it off. Then I figured it would be quicker to just use my hands. All the people sitting near us in the restaurant were laughing at me, but I didn't care. :)

Why hello, cream cheese.
Where have you been all
my life?

Parental shopaholics

Mommy and daddy are shopaholics. Not only did they schlep me shopping most of the day on Black Friday, but we went AGAIN today. Maybe I wouldn't mind as much if they got something, anything for me. Instead, it was shoes and coats and jeans and tops all for them. I got nothing! I repeat, nothing. Here's hoping I make out better on Cyber Monday.

Stop the shopping insanity.
I'm tired and want to go home.
All I wanted to do today was relax
like I got to do on turkey day.

Turkey day 2

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. I'm most thankful that I think mommy is going to stop dressing me up for holidays after this morning's "epic fail" photo shoot. I'm also thankful  for my family and friends and of course all my blog fans! :)

I told you I wasn't doing anymore photos and I was serious!

Family selfie!

All fall down

I have a new favorite song, the all fall down song. I don't know what ring around the rosie means, but I sure love when I get to fall down. It always gives me a case of the giggles.

Not so selfie Sunday

I'm just not that into the picture thing anymore. All the time it's, "Lexi, Lexi, look at the camera. Lexi, smile. Come on Lexi. Lexi, Lexi, smile." I've had enough! Sure, go ahead and keep taking your photos, but I refuse to smile. And don't even think about doing a Thanksgiving day photo shoot, mommy. It's out of the question!

I don't want to smile for the
photo. Can't you see I'm busy.
Enough already. You are worse
than the paparazzi.

Down for the count

I woke up fine today and then out of nowhere it hit me. I got warm and really tired and my boogers kept running out of my nose really really fast. I spent most of the day sleeping with mommy on the couch and squirming away from tissue attacks. I hope I'm better tomorrow.

Being sick is no fun.

PB&J heaven

Oh my goodness! Have you had this thing called PB&J? It is fantastic! It is gooey, sweet and wonderful. It has to be one of the best dinners I ever had. I kept licking my fingers and "mmming" the whole time I was eating. I could go for another sandwich right now.

APB for library boy

I can't stop thinking about the boy I met at the library on Sunday. He was older, much older, and so sweet. He let me grab onto his arm and smiled at me...multiple times! That has to mean something. Who knew libraries were good for meeting boys?!

Selfie Sunday 53

My new thing is reading on the changing table. It makes the time more bearable. Mommy says I'm just like daddy, but I'm not sure what she means. I've never seen mommy change daddy's diapers on the changing table.

Capping growth

My hair is really starting to grow! I can't necessarily always tell day by day just by looking, but I totally notice it in the bath. The hairs in the back are passing the dimple on the back of my neck. And the parts in front, well, they are almost mid forehead. Pigtails here I come!

Headed for a bath and
keeping my new hairs dry.
Why are you laughing? Do I look
silly or something?

Deceptive diva

Mommy keeps telling people I'm deceptive. I guess that is one way to describe my actions yesterday morning. When mommy was putting on her shoes by the front door, I walked into the kitchen and started going through her bag. There is just something about her lipstick and little bottle of hand sanitizer that draws me to them. Mommy came into the kitchen and saw me squatting by her bag. Thinking quick on my feet, as soon as she said, "Lexi what are you doing," I instinctively pointed to the window to try and distract her. It only kind of worked. Maybe if I didn't stutter step first in my brief shock I could have pulled the deception off. In going to work on that. :)

Sideways Sunday

Guess what I figured out? Those things where mommy and daddy keep all my clothes, I think they call them drawers, well, they pull open and push close. I've been having soooo much fun with them. I especially love to open them and pull everything out. It sure seems to annoy mommy though when she sees all my clothes on the floor. I hope they don't put locks on them like the cabinets in the kitchen.

Other than that, I just haven't been in the mood to look and smile at the camera lately. That means mommy ends up with a lot of sideways photos.

Duty done

I did my first civic duty yesterday and voted in my first election. It was really fun. We went in to the voting place (which doubles as my future elementary school), told these ladies at the check-in table our name (it's on the honor system) and off we went with our ballot to this little booth. It is just like drawing at school. You just color in a bunch of black circles all over the paper. It would be more fun if they have different color pens, like yellow, my favorite color. Then we took our ballot to this machine and it ate it up really fast. I'm told you usually get a sticker as a thank you for voting, but they ran out of them. Oh well, next time.

The machine ate my
ballot before we could
snap the photo. :(

Tell me tales

I've really started to love reading. I'm always carrying books around the house, flipping pages and asking people to read to me. I usually get so excited listening to the tales that I often can't stay seated long enough to find out how the stories end. I sure hope Curious George made it down the tree he was stuck in and that Millie Moo found her farm friends that were hiding from her. Maybe I'll finish the books tomorrow.

Who wants to read to me?

Halloween hoot

Halloween was awesome. First it started with a party at school. Once we all dressed up in our costumes--I was an owl--we had a little dance party to get warmed up. (Check out the video below.) My friend Vera was a peacock and Adi was a tiger. I kept swiping at their headpieces, which they didn't seem to like very much. Then we went over to the park and Wayne the music man came with his guitar and we danced and sang some more.

Next we met up with our friends the Ingermans and went trick or treating in their neighborhood. It was amazing. You just ring the doorbell, walk up to the person holding a candy bowl, smile at the person and take a piece of candy. So simple. I got it down by the third house. Sometimes I even grabbed two or three pieces of candy and other times I didn't grab any. Instead I put my hand in the candy bowl and just moved it around. No one seemed to mind as long as you smile.

Then today we had some friends over for a Halloween party. Mommy and daddy made all this spooky food, like mummy hotdogs, ghost bananas, vampire teeth, cheese spiders, human cheese fingers, vegetables shaped into a big pumpkin and we even had a pumpkin puking guacomole. (He he he.) That was my favorite. Halloween is the funiest holiday!

Material girl

Check out my new black leather skirt. I LOVE it. It was a birthday present from Jersey Fran. It made all my daycare girlfriends jealous. :) There are no boys at school that I'm interested in anymore. Instead, I'm really into Fran's grandson, David. We hung out last weekend and he hugged and kissed me many, many times. Daddy started to get a little mad. (He he.) Mommy thought it was funny and just took photos.

This skirt is my favorite!
Me and David. What a hunk!

Monster-ific day

How come I'm just finding out about Halloween?! All you do is dress up in a costume and people give you candy. How cool is that? I don't even care that mommy and daddy take all the candy, it's just fun going up to people and getting to pick something out of their candy bowls. Being a walker rules!! Today I dressed up as a furry monster. Everyone kept calling me adorable and giggling at me. I can't lie, I love all the attention. On the real Halloween on Friday I'm going to be an owl. I've been practicing saying whoo..whoo.

Am I scary? I'm trying to
be scary.

Got my treats and on to
the next place.
This is the best holiday ever!

Needles be gone

I had my one year check up today. The doctor couldn't believe how well I am walking. I now weigh 26 pounds, 4 ounces and I'm 31.5 inches long. That's the 98th percentile. In addition to the normal check up stuff I got four shots. FOUR! They came out of nowhere and boy did they hurt. Not cool doc, not cool.

Playing before heading back
to see the doctor.

Mommy's back

Mommy disappeared for two days and she finally came back today. I was so excited to see her I practically ran to give her big wet kisses. Then I quickly remembered that I was mad at her for going away without me. I decided to teach her a lesson and give her the cold shoulder (that means to ignore someone). I wouldn't even look at her. It made mommy really really sad. Of course that made me feel pretty bad. A lot of hugs later we're back to normal. She just better not disappear again.

Tired and sloppy

A lot of my friends at school got sent home early because they are sick. They have fevers. I've never gotten a fever before. I overheard parents and teachers talking that it means your body gets all hot and achy and you feel yucky. Sounds horrible. I hope I don't catch one. I wonder if fevers also make you tired. I've been feeling really tired lately. When I'm tired I get what daddy calls "sloppy" and start walking into things. At school I walked into the side of the play house and I have another bump on my head. :( Maybe I need another nap.

Passed out on the couch.

Best day ever!

It's official, I'm one!!!!! I had so much fun at my party in the park. I had my favorite Mexican food, I got to try birthday cake for the first time and played with my friends and family. And, it didn't rain! Who could ask for a better day? I especially liked running around the basketball court playing tag, watching my friends get their faces painted and going up and down the slide.

At one point, there was this one older boy who tried to crash my party (that means attend when you aren't invited), but Lisa set him straight. :) And later a bunch of the daddies got their faces painted. Silly daddies. It was the best day ever!!!

I'm almost one

Do you know my birthday is on Sunday? I'm going to be one! Can you believe it? This year has gone by so fast! Can you believe I've written 208 blog posts. That's a lot of posts! Thanks for always coming back to read about my adventures. Who knows what the next year will have in store for me. Hopefully I'll start talking more, running, growing hair and who knows what else. But first we party hardy tomorrow!!! See you there.

Mommy tried to give me
pigtails. It kind of worked!

Budding bully

I got in trouble at day care again. Today when I was playing with my friends Iris and Vera, I guess I grabbed them by the back of their shirts by their necks and then I kind of pushed them over. I didn't mean to push them over or hurt them. I thought we were playing a game and sometimes I grab things or people for balance. My teachers put me in a special chair at school away from everyone else. I didn't like that at all. I'm going to try to not be so rough tomorrow. :(

Sunday funday

Today was awesome! We went to Lauren's 7th birthday party, I got my face painted, then we went pumpkin picking, and then shopping at my favorite store on Long Island. What more could a little lady ask for?

Which one should I pick?
All of these look like pretty pumpkins.
Cousins!
Check out my butterflies.
Family photo at Lauren's party. Looking good!
