Welcome 2014!

Happy New Year! I’m so excited for my first New Year’s Eve. First we’re going out to dinner with our friends the Gaffins. Then, we may watch the ball drop in Times Square on TV, or maybe we’ll go to the top of our hill and I’ll see my first fireworks. There will be hats – I love hats – and streamers and lots of kissing. It all sounds so exciting.

I was told that you are supposed to make these things called resolutions for the new year. They are things you want to do. I’ve been thinking pretty hard about mine. Here is what I came up with so far.  1. Learn how to walk   2. Learn how to talk   3. Grow hair   4. Make more friends   5. Learn how to change my own diapers – (Well, this is daddy’s one for me) J
What are your resolutions?

What, you want me to smile?
Ok. Here's my smile.

A member of the tribe

I became an official member of the tribe yesterday when I received my Hebrew name – Mira Bracha. I’m named after mommy’s grandfather Martin and daddy’s grandfather Morris and grandmother Betty. I’m so lucky that so many friends and family came for the simcha (that’s Jewish for celebration). Thanks everyone! I don’t have too many photos to share because mommy and daddy were so busy talking to people they didn’t take many photos. I hope people who took photos share them with us!

During the ceremony, I was wrapped in mommy and
daddy's wedding chuppah.
Here is one of the centerpieces with favors for all the guests.
Here is one of the favors that mommy made. Yummy!
Family portrait at the end of the celebration. I was exhausted!
Here's the certificate to prove I'm part of the tribe.
My dress even looked pretty coming off.
I look like a little lion. Roar!

Oy Vey

I’m getting my Hebrew name on Sunday. Mommy and I went out and about today gathering all the final things for the ceremony. I bought this great hot pink dress last month that I can’t wait to wear. However, I’ve been stress eating lately because I’m not sure if I’m going to like being the center of attention during the ceremony. And, now that the event is just two days away, I’m panicked the dress won’t fit. I got myself so worked up today that I spit up most of my breakfast and lunch. Oy!

I'm skeptical the dress will fit, but Daddy says
I'll look great no matter what I wear.

No Santa sighting

I waited up all night for Santa but he never came. I wonder if it is because we don’t have a chimney. Or maybe he was in Brookline between 2 and 6 a.m. and couldn’t park his reindeer on the street and he knows mommy’s no-animals-in-the house policy. Yeah, that’s probably what happened. He didn’t want to get a parking ticket because then he wouldn’t be jolly. When daddy gets parking tickets he is not jolly at all. Oh well, maybe next year. I’m headed to bed. I want to be well rested for Chinese food later.

WD-40 needed

I’ve been trying to speak lately, but it keeps coming out as squeaks. I especially like to squeak at anything that moves. Sometimes it can sound like I’m crying, but nope, just squeaking. Mommy gets me … kind of. Whenever I start squeaking she’ll have a conversation with me, but she usually talks about a completely different topic than what I was talking about. Silly mommy! It’s hard being a chatterbox when no one understands what you’re saying. Good thing I have this blog so I can explain myself!

The pacifier always stops my squeaking!

Selfie Sunday 6

You probably thought I forgot about selfie Sunday, didn't you. Nope, just been busy today driving back from NY. I went to visit Poppy. He has a boo-boo on his heart. Get better Poppy. I love you.

Finally, back at home! Traffic is the worst.
Me and Poppy!

Band-Aid blitz

I had my two month checkup on Wednesday. I’m now 12 pound 7 ounces and 23.5 inches long. That puts me in the 75th percentile. Not too shabby. I got a bunch of shots, which I didn’t really mind. I think my chubby thighs helped to dull the pain. I liked that they came with these really cool silver sparkly Band-Aids. Then yesterday, mommy was trimming my nails and clipped some skin so I got a third Band-Aid. This time it was a Muppets one. Since it was on my finger, and I love putting my hands in my mouth, I had to wear this silly glove on my hand all day. It’s only silly because it is waaaaaay too big for me.

Injured, but still smiling.
This glove is bigger than my head.

Check out my sparkly Band-Aids. I love them!

Take that narcissism

I told you I wasn’t narcissistic. Here’s a collection of photos of me with friends and family from the last few weeks.
Here's me with my cousins Sydney and Max.
I was so excited to meet them!
Here's me and my bestie Molly. Molly's mom and
my mommy are besties too!
Here's all my friends from the class mommy and
me go to. Yeah, all the boys love me!
Here's me and my cousin Gabe. I can't wait until I'm
big enough to play with him.
On the left is my cousin Maya and holding me is Maya's
grandma, Lenore. What a fun day at the Pressmans house!

Insomniac attack

Help!! I’ve forgotten how to sleep in my crib. I can be fast asleep in mommy or daddy’s arms and within a few minutes of being placed in my crib I wake up, eyes wide open. It’s crazy. I usually start screaming because I’m scared and frustrated. Mommy or daddy come and pick me up and I’ll pass out in one of their arms within minutes because I’m so tired. But as soon as I’m put back in that crib, I’m magically wide awake again! So, I scream, AGAIN. This can go on and on for what feels like hours. For a few nights now I’ve slept in my comfy chair just to get a good night sleep. I think my crib may be cursed. At least I think that is what mommy says … something about cursing.

Narcissistic – who me?

I’ve gotten some feedback that my blog is nar… nar… narcissistic. Yeah, that’s the word. I wasn’t sure what it meant, so I Googled it. It means that someone is self obsessed. I guess I can see why someone would think that considering I mostly post photos of just me. Mommy says I’m kind of like Oprah. She is this woman who has a magazine and always puts a photo of herself on the cover. Starting tomorrow, I’m going to try to be better about including photos of me with other people. Today you get a double dose of ME!

Mo Millions

Mommy taught me about gambling today. We bought a few Mega Millions tickets. All we have to do is match six numbers and we can win! It seems pretty simple to me. The man on the TV said the jackpot is $425 million. That’s a lot of formula! Mommy let me pick some of the numbers so I know we’re going to win. I’m going to go take a quick nap now, so I can be up when the numbers are called. I’m so excited!

Taking a quick nap before we win Mega Millions!
PS: Happy birthday great aunt Eleanor!

Piano Woman

Everyone is always saying I have piano fingers because they are so long, but I prefer to play with my toes. College scholarship here I come.

And just in case the piano doesn't work out, I've been practicing my air guitar ... mainly when I have my rocker pajamas on.

White stuff, bubble and a bug

Did anyone else see the white stuff falling from the sky today? At first I thought I was maybe dreaming. I knew I was in my stroller, so that felt real, but I was surrounded by this big plastic bubble thing that made everything a little blurry. It would look like the white stuff was going to fall on me, but then it would hit the plastic thing and not get me. Each time I would think, whew! – I dodged another one. As if that wasn’t scary enough, today I had a gigantic bug land on my head. I only noticed when I caught a glimpse of my reflection in a storefront window. It looked like I had two faces!! It was so traumatic I closed my eyes and wished it away. Next thing I remember I was back at home and there was no bubble and no more bug. Maybe it was all a dream?

Proof of the bubble and the bug. It wasn't a dream!

Back in Boston, but shrinking

I had such a good time in New York spending time with mommy’s family and meeting soooo many new friends. The week and a half flew by! I was really sad to go and actually almost didn’t make it home. Mommy and daddy had so much stuff (OK, it was mostly mine – plus daddy’s three pairs of shoes for two days) that it couldn’t all fit in the car and they had to leave some things behind. Luckily, I made the cut. J

Grandpa Bob came to New York too for a party for my great aunt and uncle’s 50th wedding anniversary. I got to go into the city again and meet some more of my cousins on daddy’s side of the family. They are so sweet. They shared some of their toys with me and pretty soon I’ll be big enough to play with them. I can’t wait until cousin Warren sends me the photos he took of us.

One weird thing, everything at home seems smaller. I no longer need to have my butt propped up in my lounging chair, I fit without it. My arms also now hit the sides of my bassinet. It’s weird how the furniture shrunk when I was gone.

Grandpa Bob and me had a contest who could sleep
longer on the car ride home. I think it was a tie.

Selfie Sunday 4

If I claimed this as a selfie I’d be lying. My cousin Cori took it.

Shpatziring

On Long Island this week, mommy, Nana and me spend most of our days shpatziring. That’s Yiddish for wasting time. You can be shopping, taking a stroll, driving around town – it’s all shpatziring. We mostly go to stores, buy things and then go to other stores and return things. Sometimes we go back to the same store the next day and return what we got the day before. It seems kind of silly to me. On one of our many coffee breaks at DD (both mommy and Nana are addicts) we came across a tie dye donut that matched my outfit. It was so funny we had to get one. Only on Long Island!

And guess what. We finally remembered to get some batteries for my mobile. Look who's super happy now.

Ohhhh...it moves and plays music.

What I ponder

I often ponder some interesting topics on my changing table

Why do giraffes have black tongues?
Look. Mine is pink. Guess I'm not a giraffe.

Present overload

Look at all these presents. Can you even find me in the picture?

No, they aren’t all for me. We had our Roth family Hanukkah party the other night. All us kids get presents from everyone and all the adults have a Secret Hanukkah Harry gift exchange. (I’m still not sure what this is. They explained it to me but I keep getting confused about who Harry is.) One of my favorite gifts is my mobile. I finally have something to look at when I’m chillaxing in my crib. Nana keeps saying we need to get batteries for it so I can see it move. I guess batteries are hard to find because she has been saying that for three days now. Oh, well, maybe next year I’ll get batteries for Hanukkah.

I'm a bag lady ... with pearls!

Having some fun with Hanukkah decorations.

I'm getting woozy from all the spinning.

Should I be worried about the flames on my chest?
